Dr. Johnson grew up in upstate New York and received her undergraduate education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. After attending Medical School at Howard University in Washington DC, a Public Health Service assignment took her to Belle Glade Florida, where she served as a General Medical officer caring for migrant farmers.

She completed her Dermatology residency at Howard University in 1984 and joined the teaching staff assigned to the VA Medical Center in Washington, DC. She went into private practice in DC and also worked as the Director of Dermatology Education for the Medical Residency program at Providence Hospital in Washington. In 2012, she moved her practice to Silver Springs, Maryland to be a bit closer to home. She maintained a medical and cosmetic practice, with a special interest in lasers and skin surgery.

“The 650-microsecond is the stand-alone changing factor for addressing medical and aesthetic needs in skin of color. We are entering a new era for this population and I’m happy to be able to educate future dermatologists about it.”
